On Thursday the 18th of September, David Roberts, Chief Operating Officer, Fusion Hotel Group and I had a fireside chat on the topic of How Emerging Cities in Southeast Asia Are Redefining Hospitality Investment
We talked about how we define and 'emerging' city and who makes the first move into the
destination. The product or the infrastructure. Because we need both for a destination to be successful and attractive to investors and travellers alike. Unlike primary locations where you can have various sources of demand, emerging cities can be more localised. So understanding your destination is going to be critically important.
And this conversation was carried in the panel discussion right after ours hosted by Kyu
Baek and his panellists.
His panel also emphasised the importance of local knowledge, local partners for both operations and investments. Another topic that this panel touched on was education and focusing on home-grown talent.
