Nobody has the playbook.
🇭🇰 That was the thread running through my session at IHIF Asia last week in Hong Kong, on how women lead through complexity.
🎙 I built it around five quotes from women I have interviewed on Inspiring Women in Hospitality. Each one carries a lesson that reaches well beyond our industry.
1. "Nobody at all knows what they're doing. So I can just as well put up my hand and give it a shot." Reneé Minnaar, episode 201
⛰️ Staying silent costs far more than speaking up. Raise your hand.
2. "Hospitality sits between people and capital." Wendy Shi, episode 217
⛰️ One cannot exist without the other. Women belong on both sides of that equation, including in the rooms where the financial decisions are made.
3. "We are little cultural cocktails." Anita Mendiratta, episode 151
⛰️ Our differences are not a footnote on a CV. They are a leadership advantage, especially when we get the seat at the table.
4. "It's not about replacing people. It's about taking work off their plate." Tamina Wuerth, episode 149
⛰️ Let technology take the mundane off your plate and help you learn. Keep the thinking and the decisions for yourself.
5. "Design this next horizon to be more energy accretive." Carmen Hui, episode 216
⛰️ Be intentional about where your energy goes, rather than following a script someone else wrote for you.
💚 My invitation to the room, and now to you: where in your life are you still following a script? Whatever path you choose, make sure the choice is yours.
